Shawn was born in Daly City, California, and has been a resident of Orlando, Florida since 1993. Shawn originally spent several years in the hospitality industry managing restaurants, when he decided he wanted to return to school to further his education. Shawn received his Bachelor of Arts degree and Juris Doctorate from Florida State University. While at the Florida State University College of Law, Shawn attended the summer program in law at Oxford University in Oxford, England. Shawn worked for the State Attorney's Office in Orange County, Florida, and then primarily practiced commercial litigation, family law, and criminal defense prior to joining the firm.

Outside of the law, Shawn is a voracious reader and aspiring author. Shawn is also a Disney fanatic, and self-proclaimed expert.

Shawn is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
